Gangster Rap vs Electro (What to do on Thursday night, July 24th)

The golden days might be back thanks to the newcomers. For the last few years, Kendrick, Tyler, Nipsey or Schoolboy Q, managed to bring back the story telling, gang banging and party sound that we once loved.
YG-PRESS
Keenan Jackson, also known as YG could barely talk when the classic Gin and Juice  video came out on television. Twenty plus years later, the rapper is now affiliated with some of the best names in the game. Having rapper Jeezy and on-demand producer DJ Mustard as friends can’t hurt your career.
Before releasing his first studio album  My Krazy Life earlier this year, you  have probably heard his verse on Toot it and Boot it (remix) with 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg. Or maybe you heard B***ches ain’t S**t  with other West Coast residents such as Tyga and Nipsey Hussle.

The West Coast sound is finally back in full force.

INFO:

Who:  YG, live in concert for the 1st time in Canada (opening acts: Blockmode, Nyce+Stoney & Yung Jungle)

If you rather enjoy the beautiful weather instead, then you need to be at the Esplanade in downtown’s Place des Arts. Here’s why…

Laval producer High Klassified will hit the turntables. Even though he looks like he just came from a 1990s sitcom, the suburban producer ( and A-Trak protégé) style fits right into the rap/pop/electro sound we can’t seem to get enough of.

Alongside Klassified will be  Canadian DJ Lunice and top producer Just Blaze. For those who  danced to his many hits last winter ( see my post on the Igloofest), you already know that this will be a guaranteed outdoor celebration!

Listen to their music right here:
